Update from Lilia on Go Yoga @ The Three Jewels NYC:

Dear teachers, staff, and close friends,

Thank you for your years of service and support at Go Yoga. As we move closer to our closing on May 21st, I’m filled with Gratitude for all we have accomplished in this space.
Since announcing our closing, an amazing opportunity has arisen. One of my dreams has been to work in a non-profit to teach Yoga to a broader audience than is currently being served by yoga studios in NYC. My father spent half of his working life in non-profits; Carnegie Hall, The NY Public Library and The William Shakespeare Theatre to name a few. I have always wanted to be a part of something bigger than just a business.

In June, I will be joining forces with the Three Jewels, a non-profit currently located at 9th Street and 4th Avenue in Manhattan to direct and revamp the Yoga program that will be an integral part of the NEW Three Jewels. The program will be under the banner of Go Yoga @ The Three Jewels NYC. This means that we have an incredible opportunity to grow the good both brands do together. I wanted to extend an invitation to each of you to join me in this new and exciting phase for Go Yoga and the broader Dharma & Yoga community of New York.

This means we have volunteer and teaching opportunities for you. Yoga teachers will be paid for their classes under a compensation model similar to Go Yoga’s current structure. And we need volunteer help running the desk and meditation classes.

Please speak with me if you would like to learn more. I intend to make an announcement about teachers and classes at the Three Jewels before closing Go Yoga to help both communities with the transition.

With great respect and love,

Lilia Mead

Founder of Go Yoga

Original April 6th Letter from Lilia on the Brooklyn Studio:

Dear Go Yoga Community,

It’s been the greatest honor and pleasure to serve you over the past 15 years.

I have some news to share. The lease at Go Yoga is not being renewed and I have reached an amicable agreement with the landlord. After much consideration, I’ve decided not to continue with Go Yoga in the form of a studio.

Go Yoga’s last day of operation will be Thursday May 21st, 2015. Classes will continue as scheduled until then. To ensure people will have time to redeem all the classes they paid for, as of April 20th, 2015 we will no longer be selling class cards or monthly memberships. Drop-ins are still welcome.

To meet the needs of this wonderful community of Yoga practitioners, I’ve met with other studios and am making arrangements for yoga programs to continue without a break in their continuity.

For example, the Mysore Ashtanga program with Augustine Kim will be continuing at Kula Yoga Project just three blocks south of us. I’m also making introductions so Go Yoga teachers can continue teaching at other studios in Williamsburg.

Thank you for the many years of support. It has been a life’s dream to serve you through Go Yoga.

As for me, I plan to continue practicing, studying, and teaching in a more fluid capacity. So you are not losing me, we are just losing our space. I plan to keep teaching at various studios in the Fall.

All my love,

Lilia Mead
