Lilia Mead

sarva 79

Lilia opened Go Yoga, the first Vinyasa Yoga center of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2000. She recalls her first class in 1989 with Sharon Gannon of the Jivamukti Yoga Method. After graduating from Bennington College with a BA in dance & psychology, she decided to dive deep into the more esoteric & vast teachings of Yoga. Over the course of her career, she has successfully completed 6 certifications & made two trips to India to deepen her practice. She has been fortunate enough to study with many great masters along the way, but holds a select few near & dear to her heart. Genny Kapular of the Iyengar method has been her living inspiration, mentor & muse for all things important since 1999. The moment she laid eyes & ears on the teachings of Lama Marut, something awakened inside of her & has been alive & kicking ever since. Other incredible teachers that continue to support & illuminate the path are Ana Forrest, Leslie Perlman of Good Ground Yoga & Colleen & Rodney Yee of Yoga Shanti.

In January of 2014 Lilia teamed up with Michael Hewett & Matthew Lombardo to create a 200hr Sarva Yoga Teacher Training. The second one begins 10/10/14. Sarva means all, complete & entire. Without this full spectrum of an 8 limbed approach to practice, Yoga holds very little meaning, purpose or value in life. The goal of Yoga is to maintain disciplined practice that promotes freedom, happiness & a full integration into one’s life & relationships! In the summer she escapes to the Hamptons with her two kids where she teaches private & group classes. This past summer 2014 she was honored to be invited to teach at Lama Marut’s 10th annual Summer retreat in New Hampshire, as well as a Sarva retreat in Vermont.
